The way of providence – poem

by suleimanharuna

The way of providence

Compliments of the sun denied

But moon’s borrowed gleam hailed

And the shadows of the illuminated windowlet

The perforated carcass of hope, noisome

Opens an abyss

Prayer’s then a subterfuge since providence

Has turned deaf

Prayer, sacrifice and hope beget

Only pain

Unpalliated pain

Memory sleeps and wakes

Rekindling the pains of the forgotten misery

Providence pawns its fawns

Providence prods forth the profligates

And turn them parvenus

While the fawn dies pauper

After nut-hard crucibles that

Turned him petulant

The way of providence is inscrutable.
